FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Nope! We have EFTPOS facilities, and prefer payment by EFTPOS.

  • Yes, subject to availability. However, we recommend contacting us beforehand as we do generally stay booked ahead.

  • $150 is our studio minimum. A studio minimum is in place to cover our time as the hygiene protocols are the same for every tattoo, now matter how big or small.

  • It depends! Pricing will vary for every tattoo.

We take into consideration the complexity of the design, the expected time for completion, the size and the placement of the tattoo.

For small - medium scale tattoos, the actual cost is not known until a design has been finalised, and the stencil has been printed.

For this reason, we only provide estimates at the time of booking, and not fixed quotes.

For large scale tattoos, we charge by the hour. The actual cost will very much depend on the design, actual size of the tattoo, and how well you sit for the tattoo.

We can provide an estimate of cost for large scale tattoos. In doing so, we will provide an estimate of hours or sessions.

  • Each tattoo artist will have a different hourly rate. Please contact us if you would like to know the hourly rate of a specific artist.

  • For small scale tattoos, we charge by the tattoo. Please see above on what we consider when pricing a tattoo.

Generally, any tattoos that will take 3 or more hours to complete, will be charged by the hour.

  • We’ve compiled a list of all the things you should do to prepare for your appointment with us here: https://www.markdtattoo.com.au/preparing-for-your-appointment

  • We won’t tattoo anyone under the age of 18, even with consent from a legal guardian or parent.

There are no reputable studios in the Sydney (that we are aware of) that will tattoo anyone under the age of 18.

  • Designs will generally not be provided to you before the day of the appointment. However, for more complicated designs, your tattoo artist may choose to send them ahead of the appointment.

We always allocate time at the beginning of the session to have a final consultation. Here you and your tattoo artist will review the design together, as well as the sizing and rough placement. We find communication is better for all parties this way, as it avoids too many miscommunications and delays in responses.

We encourage you to ask as many questions as you need, and to voice any concerns, and changes you would like to make. We’re here to give you a tattoo that you will love. There will be no issue with making minor changes to the design.

A stencil will not be prepared until you are 100% happy with the design.

Exact placement will be discussed during the stencilling process.

  • Booking ahead is highly recommended. Our artists are generally booked out anywhere from two weeks to months in advance; so we can’t always guarantee availabilities for a walk in, especially on weekends.

We do always try our best to accomodate last minute booking requests, however.

  • You can contact us through phone, email, or through our enquiry form. You can also contact the artist directly via their instagrams.

  • Our highest priority is in the safety of our clients and artists and delivering the best tattoo possible. For this reason, along with council regulations imposed on us, we do not allow plus ones in the studio.

Plus ones will be asked to wait outside the studio, or in the reception area if space if available.

  • Yes, we do! However, we ask that you be open minded, as our artists are limited to what is already on the skin.

From time to time, we may recommend that you have laser removal for optimal results.

To enquire further about cover ups, it is best to complete our booking form.

  • Pain is subjective. The level of pain will vary depending on the placement of your tattoo, but will also depend on how long your session is and whether you have eaten and are well rested. To manage your own expectations, always expect some level of pain or discomfort.

  • For smaller tattoos, deciding on the day won’t be an issue.

Please note depending on what the tattoo is, there may be design limitations with certain placements.

It is always best to have some sort of an idea of where you want the tattoo before making an enquiry, even if that means you are tossing up between different placements; and if we know beforehand, we will be able to advise accordingly.

With that said, when booking your tattoo, you are not “fixed” to what was confirmed in the booking. Sometimes when you see the stencil on the body, you might decide you want it elsewhere, and we’ll happily accomodate.

  • Tattoos are art, and art is very subjective and personal. So, to recommend a tattoo for you would be like “throwing a dart in the dark”

Tattoos are on your body permanently, so we highly recommend doing your research before making an enquiry.

Once we have an understanding of what you like, only then can we make design recommendations.

Alternatively, some of our artists will have tattoo flash available for you to view on their instagram.

  • Yes, we do! Send us an email and we can arrange a gift voucher for you.
